Colchester Borough Council joins Defence Discount Service

Link to homepage
Members of the Armed Forces community can now enjoy discounts at a number of council-run venues and attractions, through the Defence Discount Service (DDS).
Colchester Borough Council is one of the first local authorities to sign up to the DDS, which covers Serving Armed Forces, Reserve Forces, their spouses/partners, HM Armed Forces Veterans, MoD Civil Servants, War/Service Widows, Bereaved Family Members, Armed Forces Cadets (16+) and NATO Personnel serving in the UK.
Leisure World Colchester, Colchester Castle, Lion Walk Activity Centre and the Colchester Events Company now offer a range of discounts and concessions to members of the scheme, on production of a Defence Privilege Card.
The DDS forms part of the Armed Forces Covenant, to which Colchester Borough Council is a signatory, and is the ONLY official Ministry of Defence discount service for the Armed Forces and Veterans across the UK. It was officially launched by the Prime Minister, in December 2012.
Organisations and businesses that sign up to the scheme offer discounts or special offers free of charge through the DDS website and mobile apps, enabling them to show their support for the Armed Forces Community.
Colchester Borough Council hopes other organisations in the Borough will follow its example and sign up to the discount scheme.
The DDS offers discounts at the following Council venues:
Leisure World Colchester: 'Freedom' membership concession to serving military personnel and veterans. Concession for some Pay-as-you-go activities (for serving military personnel). Corporate membership discount on 'Lifestyles' membership for serving military personnel. Approximately 10% off regular monthly direct debit payment, and no admin fee.
Colchester Castle: Reduced Adult Entry Price £4.80 instead of £7.75
Lion Walk Activity Centre: 10% discount on annual membership
Colchester Events Company: 10% discount on wedding bookings for serving personnel
